JUNE 2012
I. LOVE. SUMMER.
No schedules--No school--No time-consuming sports--No waking up really early!
Family Vacation:
We started our Summer Break off with a bang by going to Newport Beach and Disneyland!
The Newport Beach Temple
Newport Beach
This was the first time Addison and Chase had gone to Disneyland. We decided that we would start the day as a family and go on all the non-scary rides together. Then in the afternoon we would split off into big kids/little kids.
We went to Fantasyland and rode Pinocchio and Peter Pan. After the 2nd ride, Chase exclaimed "When are we going to go on the fun rides?" So we ran over to Splash Mountain as fast as we could. They LOVED it! We ended up spending the entire day as a family riding mostly the roller coasters.
It was a wonderful vacation, and so great to get away and spend some time as a family.
Megan's 16th Celebration:
The Boise Temple has been closed for over a year because it is going through a major remodel. So for Megan's 16th birthday, she chose to take a trip to SLC with some of her closest friends. They were able to go to the Draper Temple and do baptisms.
Braden's Birthday:
Braden turned 12! We had a fun family party and he received the Aaronic Priesthood!
Bike Helmet Incident:
In the summer, when my kids tell me they are bored, I pull out the job jar and put them to work on chores, so they have learned to keep themselves busy :) My boys love to ride bikes together.
In early June, the 4 boys decided to take a long bike ride. I insisted that they wear helmets. They protested, but I held firm, because I know they would be on busy roads. When they came back they told about their experience of going down a hill. Chase had a major bike crash and hit head first on the road. His helmet covering fell off and if you enlarge this photo and look closely, you can see the huge dent and chunk cut out in the front of his helmet. We immediately said a prayer of gratitude for his safety and for helmets!

Did I mention that I L.O.V.E. Summer?

Very eventful summer. Lots of highlights.
Way to be firm on the helmet mom!!! Disneyland is so much fun! I can't wait to take Camden in a couple of years :) I'm really thinking we need to arrange a marriage between our twelve year olds :)
Oh, my goodness!! That helmet could have been his skull! Thank goodness they were obedient.
Big summer! a sweet sixteen year old and a new priesthood holder!
